Church of google

Do you think Google is god?Well there is a church for the worship of god Google at The church of Google.org

They have their own proofs and commandments of Google.

From Matt MacPherson’s TheChurchOfGoogle.org:

We at The Church Of Google believe a convincing argument can be made stating that the search engine Google is the closest mankind has ever come to experiencing an actual Deity. It is the ultimate bridge between people and information.

The site also contains “proof,” as well as the “10 Commandments of Google.”

See some proofs:

» PROOF #1

Google is the closest thing to an Omniscient (all-knowing) entity in existence, which can be scientifically verified. She indexes over 9.5 billion WebPages, which is more than any other search engine on the web today.

» PROOF #2

Google is everywhere at once (Omnipresent). Google is virtually everywhere on earth at the same time. Billions of indexed WebPages hosted from every corner of the earth. With the proliferation of Wi-Fi networks, one will eventually be able to access Google from anywhere on earth, truly making Her an omnipresent entity.

» PROOF #3

Google answers prayers. One can pray to Google by doing a search for whatever question or problem is plaguing them.

» PROOF #4

Google is potentially immortal. She cannot be considered a physical being such as ourselves. Her Algorithms are spread out across many servers; if any of which were taken down or damaged, another would undoubtedly take its place. Google can theoretically last forever.

» PROOF #5

Google is infinite. The Internet can theoretically grow forever, and Google will forever index its infinite growth.

» PROOF #6

Google remembers all. Google caches WebPages regularly and stores them on its massive servers.

The first commandment is:

Thou shalt have no other Search Engine before me, neither Yahoo nor Lycos, AltaVista nor Metacrawler. Thou shalt worship only me, and come to Google only for answers.

And there's also a Google bible to complete the faith.

After all,In the technological age Google can be a god.

Removing Blogger nav-bar

You might have noticed that there's no navigation bar for my blog.(Plz tell me if it is there so I can update)

It can be easily removed.To do it,log into your blog account and goto templates>Edit html.

In the Edit template box add the following code under the <head> tag.

<style type="text/css">
#b-navbar{
height:0px;
visibility:hidden;
display:none;
}
</style>

It reduces the height of the bar to 0 pixels effectively removing the navigation bar.

And about the Terms and Conditions of blogger,it is not explicitly said if it is allowed or not.So as far as I feel,It is ok to remove the nav bar.

Create ASCII art

I've been looking for a tool to convert images to ASCII art,I did try some stuff but most had limitations or I had to pay then I found Photo2text.This is really cool,you can convert images to text files with no trouble and it is free.Its really helpful on orkut where I cant use images but ASCII art works great.But there are some small problems,like sometimes dark images and images with lots of shades does not appear correctly,I once tried an image of a huge fire but it didn't go right.It can be adjusted a bit by changing the brightness and controlling the character set.Anyway it works great for outlines of stuff.Now I can put a skull face in my orkut profile.Next time I want to check what my face looks like on ASCII art.

Google OSX

Almost everywhere on the net you can see those Mac OSX fans,like me,those who are crazy about it and swear by god there’s nothing better.
Well for them the world just got better,there’s a google home page just for them-The google OSX homepage.

It lists all the common google services on the homepage emulating the famous MacOSX desktop and looks a lot better than the default google page.

Harry Potter’s cloak

All this time there has been talks of making an invisibility cloak and it has been said that it is possible but now it is done.

A working design of the cloak has been made.

The Purdue University engineers, following mathematical guidelines devised in 2006 by physicists in the United Kingdom, have created a theoretical design that uses an array of tiny needles radiating outward from a central spoke.

The design, which resembles a round hairbrush, would bend light around the object being cloaked. Background objects would be visible but not the object surrounded by the cylindrical array of nano-needles, said Vladimir Shalaev, Purdue’s Robert and Anne Burnett Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering.

“What we propose is the cloaking of objects of any shape and size” Shalaev said.

But there are limitations
It works only under a single wavelength,not under the whole visible spectrum.
“How to create a design that works for all colors of visible light at the same time will be a big technical challenge, but we believe it’s possible” he said. “It is clearly doable. In principle, this cloak could be arbitrarily large, as large as a person or an aircraft.”
Presently the cloaking can be used under night vision goggles which works under a single wavelength and for other military purposes.
And it may reflect a small amount of light from the surface but it is said that this can be taken care of by using anti reflective coatings etc.

For more information goto the Purdue university page

I feel this a leap towards complete transparency and I wonder how long it will take for every one of us to go and get a Harry Potter cloak at the nearest store.
